A space to wonder, explore and create
A place to wonder, explore and create
Young children are naturally curious.
They learn by touching, experimenting, asking questions and trying things for themselves. At Art Play, we celebrate that natural curiosity by creating opportunities for children to discover, make and imagine without pressure or expectation.
There are no templates to copy and no perfect outcomes to achieve.
Instead, children are invited to explore materials, investigate ideas and enjoy the creative process at their own pace in a calm, welcoming environment.
Each Art Play session is thoughtfully planned around playful creative invitations that encourage exploration and imagination.
⭐
Follow Their Curiosity
Children are encouraged to explore, wonder and discover through open-ended creative play.
🎨
Learn Through Play
Every invitation supports fine motor skills, creative thinking and early problem-solving in a natural way.
🌈
Build Confidence
Children make their own choices, express themselves freely and discover the joy of creating.
💛
Enjoy Time Together
Parents and carers stay for the session, sharing meaningful creative moments alongside their child.
Creative experiences in the early years support so much more than making art.
Through hands-on exploration and play, children have opportunities to:
Strengthen fine motor skills through painting, cutting, sculpting and making
⭐
Develop problem-solving skills through experimenting and figuring things out
⭐
Practise independence by choosing materials and deciding what comes next
⭐
Express thoughts, feelings and ideas in ways that don’t always need words
⭐
Build confidence through trying, discovering and doing things for themselves
⭐
What looks like painting, building, squishing and experimenting is also helping young children develop skills they’ll carry with them as they grow.

"The children were curious, confident and deeply immersed in the creative process. There was no pressure to create something 'perfect,' which encouraged creativity, connection and conversation in a very natural way."
— Erin Vanderwal, Saltbush Child and Family Learning Centre
Art Play sessions follow a gentle rhythm, helping children feel settled, confident and excited to explore.
-
Children are welcomed into the studio and invited to explore the creative space. This gentle arrival time allows them to settle in, connect with the environment and transition into a creative mindset.
-
Each session begins with a story, conversation or hands-on invitation that sparks curiosity and introduces the day's theme or materials.
-
Children spend most of the session experimenting with art materials, making discoveries and creating at their own pace. Our facilitators gently guide and encourage children while allowing them the freedom to follow their own ideas and interests.
-
As the session comes to a close, children have the opportunity to share their creations, talk about their discoveries and celebrate the unique ways everyone approached the experience.
Every session is thoughtfully designed to encourage confidence, curiosity and joyful exploration while leaving plenty of room for imagination to lead the way.
