We recently had the pleasure of working with Sparc Art Space for a beautiful Mother’s Day event at Saltbush Child and Family Learning Centre, and the experience was truly wonderful. Ash created a warm, inclusive and welcoming space that celebrated not only mothers, but also carers and families from across the Kingborough community.
With more than 70 children attending, it was incredible to see how naturally the children engaged in the session. They were curious, confident and deeply immersed in the creative process, with each child able to explore the materials in their own unique way. It was especially heartwarming to see parents and carers creating alongside their children, sharing meaningful moments together and taking home special pieces they had made as a family.
What really stood out was Ash’s open-ended, process-led approach. Compared to more structured activities, the session felt calm, relaxed and genuinely engaging. There was no pressure to create something “perfect,” which encouraged creativity, connection, and conversation in a very natural way. Children and adults alike were able to participate at their own pace, making the experience accessible and enjoyable for everyone involved.
The environment itself was thoughtfully set up and inviting, fostering a sense of comfort and community from the moment families arrived. Ash has a wonderful ability to create meaningful connection through creativity, and it was clear how much joy the experience brought to those attending.
We would absolutely see value in offering something like this again and would highly recommend Sparc Art Space to other community organisations and families looking to create inclusive, engaging and creative experiences.
